COMMENDATIONS

The Exeter Region Cooperative School District is commended for the following goals, programs, and practices:


  1. The middle school facility is state-of-the-art and designed to accommodate the house (pod) plan system appropriate for youngsters in grades 6-8.
  2. Teacher association-administration-board relations are excellent.
  3. Information literacy resources including NewsBank at the middle school level and ProQuest at the high school level are available and easily accessible to students.
  4. The breadth of the foreign language program in grades 7-12, including French, Japanese, Latin, Russian and Spanish at the high school and French, Japanese, Latin and Spanish in the middle school is commendable.
  5. The Audit Team recognized the extra time and effort many teachers, staff and administrators give in support of student achievement and activities.
  6. A high percentage of students are involved in a wide variety of extra- and co-curricular activities.
  7. Facilities are made available for community use, both during the day and evening hours.
  8. The formal mentoring program to assist in the orientation of new teachers is commendable.
  9. Students are rewarded with free time privileges, including an open lunch for deserving seniors at the high school level and unmonitored mobility at the middle school.
  10. Commitment to disseminate board policy manual is made evident by the printed form distributed through the middle school calendar and the electronic format on the web site.
  11. The "homework now" feature on the web site to alert students and their parents to expectations of assigned work provides a valuable service.
  12. The district is commended for its website at www.fc.sau16.kin.nh.us, particularly the clear links to and throughout the Board Policy Manual.
  13. The Senior Class Grade Point Average (GPA) achieves the district cohort effectiveness level.
  14. The district maintains close ties with local employers and makes great efforts to provide students with experience in the work world. Through the Weekly Business Visitation (WBL), School-to-Work Field trips the district provides first-hand experience. Cooperation with the UNH Cooperative Extension (Teen Assessment Program-TAP) and the Healthy Communities Program enhances student learning, experience, and community ties.
