From an analysis of the data, observations of schools, and interviews with school district officials, the SchoolMatch Audit team makes the following recommendations in the categories of Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction, School and District Improvement Planning, and Finance Management:
1. HUMAN RESOURCES
A. Design new processes to improve human resources management.
B. Improve teacher salaries.
C. Increase teacher orientation period.
D. Implement education-based employee selection systems.
E. Recruit "trailing spouses" in cooperation with local businesses.
F. Highlight minority recruitment.
G. Consider alternative certification in critical areas of teacher need.
H. Supplement secondary programs through dual employment agreements with local universities.
I. Consider an Executive Teacher Plan.
2. CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
A. Provide equitable access to computers and other technology for all students.
B. Enhance the Advanced Placement Program.
C. Increase middle school academic options and rigor.
3. SCHOOL AND DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLANNING
A. Continue to use data from a variety of sources to achieve specific improvement goals.
B. Survey young adult graduates and parents about their perceptions of the results of their education in Indian Prairie.
C. Assimilate new students into the district by designing an induction program that identifies those whose skills lag behind, and developing plans to address those students’ needs.
4. FINANCE MANAGEMENT
A. Secure a loaned executive(s) from the business community to serve as the District’s chief discretionary finance representative.
B. Increase budget and expenditures for instructional materials.
